Six and Under

Yesterday our family coordinator emailed. She suggested we consider raising the ages of the kids on our official request to the Ethiopian government. Otherwise it could result in a much longer wait. Our current request is four and under.

We've decided to change. We're still requesting siblings, either sex, but now six years and under.

Just wondering, how long did they say that it would be, now that you have changed the age of children you are requesting? What did she guess it would take if you'd have chosen to keep it four and under? We are anxiously watching how things work out for you guys, knowing we will be following closely behind!

I am also wondering how long they said it would take for children aged 4 and under? 6 ad under? My husband and I are going to start the process soon and am interested in wait times.

Thanks!

Hi Apryl and Anonymous.
Sorry, but I don't have answers to your questions. I actually have the same questions myself. Our family coordinator just said we may experience a "much longer wait" for siblings 4 and under, so we went with her suggestion and expanded our age request. She also said the wait time might be less if we were willing to take unrelated children, but we still feel that adopting siblings is the way for us to proceed. The approximate processing time is 14-20 months (application through arriving home)according to AWAA's website. Rhonda
